New Ulm ATA ATA Beyond the Belt Challenge

ATA Martial Arts has kicked off a Beyond the Belt challenge encouraging those involved with the ATA to share their stories.

Taekwondo is about more than physical training, punching, kicking, and forms. The overall training students receive affect them as a person, how they act, how they interact with others, and much more. The intent of the Beyond the Belt challenge is to identify and celebrate the things learned and how it’s impacted students and those around them.

In the coming weeks, New Ulm ATA Martial Arts will be engaging our students to help identify what they see as the Beyond the Belt benefits. Until then, check our the More Info button to see some videos the ATA Martial Arts has put together do far. There’s an introductory video explaining the challenge plus a number of videos from current ATA members.

New Ulm ATA ATA World Championships 2024

ATA World Championships 2024

The Tournament of Champions was held in the final days of July.
This is a World Championship tournament ending the tournament year.
It is followed immediately with a new tournament to kick off the new tournament year.

Join us in congratulating Mr. Schwab for his success at this year’s ATA World Championships.

Mr. Schwab is now a World Champ in Sparring, Combat Sparring, and Weapons Forms!

The New Ulm Journal published an article about it that you can see HERE.
It’s a great story of dedication, determination, and patience.

New Ulm ATA Sioux Falls Tournament - October 4-5, 2024

Sioux Falls Tournament - October 4-5, 2024

The annual Sioux Falls Class A Tournament, hosted by Hoover’s ATA Martial Arts,
was held on October 4th and 5th.

Our school members had a great time once again!

Many of our students make a point to get a photo with Mr. Schwab after they
complete their competitions. In the case shown here, Mr. Schwab was a bit busy
judging a ring of his own at the time. Many thanks to all the black belts that
volunteer their time to ref and judge at the tournaments. These tournaments
wouldn’t be possible without their time and dedication!

New Ulm ATA Minnesota Invitational Tournament - October 19, 2024

Minnesota Invitational Tournament - October 19, 2024

ATA School Owners Master Ken Hoops, Mr. Jim Schwab, Mrs. Faith Clevenger, Mr. Kevin Dockan, and their teams hosted an Intra-School Tournament on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Much fun was had by all.

Our students followed the three rules of Do Your Best, Have Fun, and Make a Friend.
They each also had some firsts at this tournament. For one, it was their very first tournament to attend – with only about a month’s experience in Taekwondo – and he did awesome. The other two, in addition to performing very well in competition, also had their first experience as score keepers.

We look forward to having even more students join us at the next tournament. You will hear about the tournament in upcoming classes, but we also encourage you to ask the students who did attend about their experience. We’re all here to support and encourage each other!

New Ulm ATA New Ulm Parade of Lights

New Ulm Parade of Lights

On Friday night, November 29th, we walked in the annual New Ulm Parade of Lights.

Many thanks to the students, instructors, parents, and family who joined us at this chilly event!

The Tigers performed a series of Bahng Mahng EE moves while the rest of the student performed moves with the Sahng Jeol Bong (chucks). Adding to the fun was the weapons used for these were glow-stick versions.

We also handed out a promotional flyer to spectators in the crowd to hopefully add more to our ATA family. Considering the number of people in the crowd mimicking the moves, we hope to see a few new faces!
